Truisms for Year 9, first part

Nothing makes you feel less charitable and less excited to start the New
Year off right than finishing up paperwork that should have been done
weeks ago, especially when it comes to recognizing people’s
accomplishments. Finally, my natural disinclination to write up a
crummy, damned-with-faint-praise appreciation for someone who works for
me has been drowned out by the onward march of time; I can’t go too many
days into Year 9 without taking care of this kind of recognition
paperwork, even though I don’t have any particular details on what the
person is being recognized for. “Can-do attitude” should about cover it,
I’m guessing.
